Common Technical Issues with Mortal Online, the Launcher and Some Solutions

The following are things you'll want to make sure you do in order to ensure that Mortal Online and it's Launcher software run as they should.

  • First please be aware of our system requirements. Mortal Online will not run on a 32 bit copy of Windows.

  • Next, make sure your antivirus and anti-malware software programs are disabled for the installation of the game.

  • When the game prompts you to install the Unreal 3 Redistributable, allow it to run. This contains important files for your PC to run our game. If you do not run it, or are not sure if you ran it in the past, you can find the file here:C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mortal Online\mortalonline\UnrealEngine3\Binaries\Redist

  • Make sure that Mortal Online Launcher.exe and Updater.exe are whitelisted in your firewall software. Also be sure that these programs are both set to Run as Administrator by default.

  • You may need to adjust your system's general internet security settings to allow the launcher to run properly. It is based off of the Microsoft Internet Explorer security settings. If you are experiencing issues with the launcher, adjust these settings to see if it helps.

  • If you continue to have problems with the game, verify your game file integrity. From the Steam Library, go to Mortal Online and right click on it. Select Properties. Select Local Files, then Verify Integrity.

  • Finally, always make sure that your Windows updates are running regularly and that you keep your software drivers up to date.

  • If, after trying all of the above you still run into issues. Completely uninstall Mortal Online from your system and start with a fresh install. If you continue to have problems still, please follow up with an online support ticket at www.mortalonline.com/support or post here to try to get help from the community.

A few things worth noting as well.

  • Mortal Online can not be reinstalled by copying over a folder from an old install or another PC. It will block your computer from logging in. If you need to reinstall, you need to do a full, fresh install from an install source such as Steam, our Torrent, or the original install file from our website.
  • The launcher is very web/browser based and as such, relies on a lot of resources from Windows. Issues such as bad or missing system files or bad/wrong/missing Windows Registry entries can affect it. Malware and virus infections have been known to disable it. Although you want to temporarily disable virus and malware scanners when you install the game, it is critical that your PC have this software and that it be regularly run and updated. A recent case of:

    "An error has occurred!

    The server committed a protocol violation. Section=ResponseHeader Detail=CR must be followed by LF"

    was solved by a player who had their browser disabled by malware, but installing and running these scanners removed the malicious software, and allowed the launcher to work. In some cases registry cleaning software has also helped (use this at your own risk!)
