Mortal Online Map - New Version

Thanks! :) Gonna put some more time into it soon. Anyone has suggestions?

Map is good, maybe you could update the layout though to scale with larger resolutions? 1920x1080 looks so tiny.

Also removal of the bottom section > that shows the events and territory make that div a tab-able popup that would allow click and hiding of the interface and displaying if they wish to see it by clicking to raise it up again.

Just seems to make it look so compact atm with static placement.

Examples I Photoshoped for ya, Something like this maybe?

It would be great if the map would be more helpful in the jungle, as it stands it doesn't do anything for me since every path I see to get out of the jungle in the map turns out to be a sheer cliff o.o

Many people get lost in the jungle, the map is not accurate at all but if anyone would want to make a new one thats actually near accurate and take the time to photoshop one etc I'm sure pockets will update this section of the code:
Code:
<div id="mapdivholder" style="height: 2650px; width: 3104px;">
              <img id="actualmap" src="http://i.imgur.com/hVKQq3s.jpg" alt=""/>

The map was made a long time ago by a very dedicated guild who did the best they could. It's not exactly accurate but it's pretty impressive considering there's no real way to get a high up view of the world.

Could always ask a developer, didn't they state a few patches ago that they have a new "Recording view" that players can request to have enabled while they doing their thing? + allowing either GM to fly up and SS. :D

They did state that, dunno if they'd allow it for a person to update the mortal map. Doesn't hurt to ask though

I bet someone could fly up and down the world while recording, and stitch together a super map.

Thanks for these suggestions! I know what you mean but I have something kinda similar already. In the top left there is a full screen button that lets the map take up full size and hides the panels etc. There is also an option in the website settings to hide/unhide the information panel at the bottom.

Appreciate the effort though and screenshots!

In settings yes, but in the screenshots i was suggesting quicker access, not to mention larger screen resolutions get short end of the stick especially when you hide the information in settings. looks so tiny on large monitor setups.

Static size maybe if you make it scale with larger monitors would be very nice :D anyways thx again for the map you did a lot of work just suggesting an option i'd like to see.

Pockets you know I'm a fan, but really, that map is becoming more and more just a sewer where all kinds of foul things live. It reminds me every time I go there why I am so thankful MO doesn't have global chat.

A fix for that could be.. re-write guest privileges. Make it so guests can only post once a day, forcing people who wish to use it more register for an account as they should. (Yes i know you can get around it still, thats not the point. Point is the hassle of having to jump through hoops to get around it)

This will force people to use a service you made, Not to mention cleaning up the shit talking because of hiding behind a anon guest tag.

doubt this will stop the trolling =( there pathetic pretty sure they wont mind jumping through a few hoops. No harm in trying tho !!

Pockets make a username required and IP specific or something to people can only register one Username and only then allow them to post comments.

I suggest major changes be made to the map (definitely username required) if you want the map to actually become something useful. Right now it's over-run like never before by stupid, useless, and false map markers. I wish the community was responsible enough to use the map correctly, but I guess this is why we can't have nice things. If the people responsible for the map flooding are reading this, then go fuck yourselves. This is a very rare game. Stop abusing it.

I 100% agree, Majority of the map markers are FAKE RPK! ones made by others not apart of RPK!. Which we do not mind as we don't take shit to heart.

But yes it needs to have username required to post. People who look at the map do not have to be logged in unless to post something. Yes its being abused by guilds to troll. Blue guilds i'm looking at you, and we know Pockets most likely will not allow username only to post as it would stop specific "Political" misdirection.

So if map markers could only be made by registered users but comments can still be made by everyone - would that be enough you think? I can understand fake markers being an issue but comments are hidden away so its easier to overlook fake info or slander there.

Ive almost finished a quick feature to help with this. Whether the user is a guest or registered - when I have to delete a marker or comment, the user who created it will be unable to post anything else for 24 hours or something. Perhaps a longer time period for each offense.
